Chuchotage

This technique is usually used when one or two people speak a different language to that of the other participants in a meeting or conference. The interpreter physically sits alongside the person who requires the translation, whispering in their ear. This type of interpretation is very similar to simultaneous interpretation but without the technical assistance of the booth, and may be delivered to a maximum of three people since no sound-proofing or voice amplification is possible. As with the simultaneous technique, at least 2 interpreters must be provided for each linguistic combination, taking it in turns during the day of the convention.
