Among these are the ENIC/NARIC networks. The ENIC (European Network of Information Centres) network is made up of national information centres, whose role is to supply news and advice on:

• the recognition of diplomas, credentials and other foreign university or professional qualifications;

• educational systems in other European countries and in one’s own;

• opportunities for studying abroad, including information on loans and study bursaries, including practical questions linked to mobility and equipollence, that is, the equivalence of qualifications and certification between countries.

The NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centres) network was created in 1984; it aims to promote the academic recognition of diplomas and study periods in: Member States of the European Union, countries in the European Economic Area and countries of central and eastern Europe, Cyprus and Malta. Anyone who intends to undertake or complete a training course abroad can apply to the individual universities which, de facto, have the possibility, with a certain degree of independence, of establishing the equivalence of the examinations in subjects already taken.
